As relaxation therapy while working and studying, an interest in propagating Australian plants developed and membership of the Keilor Plains Group of the Australian Plants Society (then the Society for Growing Australian Plants) was a result. In 1984, together with Bev and our two children, we spent seven months travelling around Highway One exploring the Australian outback and studying its geology and its flora.

The excitement and interest in Australiana that this trip generated continues to motivate us to make regular journeys to outback Australia for which a 4-wheel drive vehicle and other camping equipment are always at the ready.

I have served stints as President, Secretary and Editor of the Keilor Plains Group and continue to serve on the committee. I am also a member of 'TreeProject' in which individuals grow Australian plants for landholders and Landcare groups.
